About this tool
A PDF or Word file can carry the author name, company, last editor and edit times without you seeing them. This check reads those hidden fields on your own device and shows them to you. Nothing is uploaded, stored or logged, and the file is never changed.
How to use
- Open the Document Metadata Check page.
- Choose a PDF or.docx file from your device, or try the fictional sample.
- Read the author, last editor and date fields before you send the file.
- If something should not leave your device, remove it in the app that made the file or use a copy without those fields.
FAQ
Is my file uploaded?
No. The check runs in your browser. The file is read on your device, and it is not sent, stored or logged.
Does this change my document?
No. It only shows the hidden fields. It does not edit, save or strip the file.
Which file types work?
PDF and Word (.docx) files. Other formats are not checked yet.
